Interpreter/ Interpreter Educator
Deaf people are part of a collectivist culture. That culture values relationships, reciprocity, and dedication. It is my contention that for interpreting students to be successful, they need to understand how this works. Students need to see this dedication modeled by their teachers and see the teacher's dedication to the people who have given us this language. They need to know that Deaf people have a dedication to them, as well as teachers in interpreter preparation programs.
